AH! News
I don't want to repeat myself, certainly as
this section is the "NEWS"-section, but the results of our
SuperTubeClock are so amazingly well-received by ALL customers who tried it in
a variety of cd-player- brands and models, that simply HAVE to -kind of- repeat
myself. If -experienced- customers tell us that the cd-player seems to be /
sounds to be re-invented, what more can you say? Next to a better cd-player it
brings also back the "old-fashioned" (??) feeling of fun you have as
a supplier AND as a customer if you notice the great improvement a
simple-looking (remember we worked 3 years on this ...) circuit can do to your
sound. Customers that get their clock installed during the day on friday, on
friday-evening already email us how "rocking good" the new cd-player
sounds and on saturday-morning email again to tell they have been rocking again
for a few hours .....
Saturday October 07 2006 - 14.30
You might be amazed it took so long before we
got new NEWS!! Same here ... It took us since 2003 to get a dedicated Clock
we always wanted to have for our AH! Njoe
Tjoeb 4000. We have it now. And it is not only a dedicated Clock for our AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000, it is a Clock for
every player out there. It's an universal Clock and ... it comes with a
heart of "tube" which is unique in the world. It’s the SuperTubeClock!!! We have AH! Njoe Tjoeb players, Copland players,
EC players, Marantz players, Krell players as beta-testers. All having a better
digital life now ....

from the U.$$.A.!! Despite low $, this country is still f*****g expensive! How
about a simple espresso coffee for $ 3.50 excluding 8% tax, excluding 20% tip. In
real money that is > Hfl 8,-. Sorry, I still calculate now and than in Dutch
Guilders to better realise the (non)"value"! Anyway,
It was the show with a number of positive people as the sales during the last
months of 2003 were good for them. Others were not so positive, or better, were
negative or even disappeared from the market .... I don't have to mention
brands, but one of the Leaders of the Gang is at least for 12 months out of the
market. Why? Simply because it was not profitable and the big, big
parent-company wants to see PROFITS!! As simple as that. The other Leader of
the Gang, Krell, was feeling good at the show, as they took on quite a
bit of new US dealers ... Wadia also seems to be back with a range of
new products. The man Mark Levinson, now from RedRose, was suffering again ... I
think the man is a genius, but knowing him personally very well and having seen
what he did the last 30 years, I think the best would be to continue to write
about female orgasmes ... What I hear is that people seem to get tired to be
confronted with his coming-up and going-down adventures (no, this is not
referring to his latest book ...). Read what Enjoy-the-Music, a leading audiophile
website in U.S.A. wrote: "What happens when you lose a company with
your name, another company you start up goes under shortly after you leave
(thereby making any warranty work null and void), and then you dare to start

New Year to all of you! First new review, or better: translation, is from Ferry
Kremers. Again, our PrimaLuna ProLogue One is the subject of his
story. Click here and Enjoy the Music from his words.

I
only repeat the words of one of our AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 customers
who wrote in the hifi-notes.com guestbook: http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0104/bestof2003.htm Again praise for the Tjoep-cdp. Does
this never stop??? ;-) Jules. Well, we hope not ... Click to see what Jules saw enjoythemusic.com (and
thanks for reporting!!).
No
long stories today from my side. Just a mentioning of the arrival of the Dutch
version of Stefan Krawczyk's PrimaLuna ProLogue One review. Click here to read his review.
Almost
Christmas and still tons of work to do before we can sit/lay down and rest. I
wish all the people all over the world what they wish us and hope all of you
have a good time and enter the New Year in Good Health! Merry Christmas and
a Happy New Year!
Vic Diederen just
translated Rob Wilms' review of the PrimaLuna
ProLogue One into English and he is on his way of delivering more translations. Keep an eye on
this page to see reviews in different languages. Another PrimaLuna ProLogue One
review (in Dutch language) is here from HifiShop customer Rob Leijsen. What else? Well, we amazed ourselves with
very simple things ... Since long I could never understand why high-quality cables
were "highly recommended" while for example inside the speaker just
very "simple" wiring was found. I remember one speaker-manufacturer
(Wilson Audio) being very "proud" to use better-than-average cable:
Monster. I always wondered what the effect would be if inside and
outside the same high-quality cable was used. We listened to our first
prototype AH! TjoeLipS loudspeakers with "standard"
internal wiring. The speaker performed very well, without any question and
visitors in our shop were attracted by the sound and asked "What's
that"? But what happened after we replaced the internal wiring with our AH!
LS Direkt KB 8 loudspeakercable is simply unbelievable! We have a NO-SPEAKER-IS-THERE-SOUNDSTAGE!!!
Lots of air, transparency, ease. True-size imaging and no speakers!!! We
are still fine-tuning as we want to get the maximum out of this design. But it
reminds me of the time that Dan D'Agostino took me by the arm during a CES-Show

How time flies! I noticed that Stereophile magazine, published the AH! Njoe
Tjoeb 4000 review of last month, in their archives. The advantage of that is
that we can link you to the Stereophile
review of the AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 from here! Yes, we are proud on the fact that
Stereophile has spent so much time on the AH! Njoe Tjoeb
4000.
Marcel
van Overbeek spent his weekend with the AH! Black TjoeLipS
(Marcel talks about 2LipS) and the new Copland CSA-29 integrated amplifier. The
Copland CSA-29 is already available, while the AH! Black TjoeLipS
speakers are on the way for delivery. We urgently wait for the next prototypes.
The design of the stands for the AH! Black TjoeLipS speakers is
done and first prototypes are being made right now. I was updated today on the AH!
phonoboard and I can tell you, 2004 is gonna be a beautiful year. Marcel Croese
is spoiling me by giving me all I want. Be patient. Click
here for Marcel van Overbeek's review of the Copland CSA-29.
ATTENTION!!
Marcel
van Overbeek safely returned from London Heathrow Hifi Show. Although this show
did not get a lot of realtime airplay from Dutch and US websites (as far as I
could find out), it seems it was very well visited. Icon Audio's room was
simply too small as almost all the time, it was overloaded with visitors. Not
only one-time visitors but also returning visitors bringing other visitors in
to let them see and hear the Icon Audio and AH! products. Marcel
brought and demonstrated from AH! the Tjoeb 66 amplifier,
the new MM/MC phono-stage (without tubes!!) and the new LSDouble
Direkt KB8 loudspeakercables. Overall results were very fine, as was
mentioned by most visitors. Next year we will certainly be back with certainly
more products. Thanks to Marcel and Icon Audio for spreading the AH!
news!

my vacation I have worked less than I wanted, but still came up with some
ideas. One idea was about the fact that people interested in AH!

products. Besides that, WE loose a lot of money if we get the payment
with VISA. So I came up with the following: why not accept payment by
banktransfer instead of VISA and ship at a much lower rate or even free?
So we decided:

The
growth and evolution of the audio industry since World War II has been
astonishing. The speed of technological innovation, from portable radios to
MP3 players, has been matched only by the proliferation of designs created
for these icons of contemporary life. Furniture-style radiogram consoles have
given way to sleek metallic exteriors, but audio equipment remains one of the
ultimate design statements, reflecting popular culture, consumer aspirations
and new developments in sound and engineering. This book traces the
development of audio design by decade, from the LP record, the birth of hi-fi
and the first transistors in the 1950s, through the Japanese hi-fi boom of
the 60s and 70s, the CD and the Walkman in the 80s, to the MP3 and DVD
players of today. A specification is provided for each piece, along with a
history of the design and its place in the development of both the audio
industry and contemporary music. In addition, special features are included
in each chapter on the music and culture of the time, highlighting the
ongoing relationship between hi-fi design and popular culture. A wide range
of high-quality audio design is gathered together, including work by major
figures such as Dieter Rams, Marco Zanuso and Philippe Starck, and each piece
of equipment is illustrated. 250
photographs, 160 pages, luxury issue. Price Euro 35,-. Available early

Instructions
and pictures have been added to the technical section for those who want to
change the standard OPA604 opamps for the AH! TjoebTjoens (OPA627
or AD/LC825).
This
is maybe not the place to publish reviews, but as the following can be
considered as a "mini-review" we still publish it here. Later on I
can be reminded to publish it also in the actual review-section:
Marcel van Overbeek has listened to the 2 Opamp options (TjoebTjoens) we offer
for the AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 cd-player and came up with following:
"Burr
Brown OPA627. This Burr Brown opamp is probably made for those who are
interested in very precise, sharply focused soundstages. It still is a very
"musical" sounding Burr Brown, with great respect for tonal colour,
and rich harmonic structures of instruments and voices. Bösendorfer sounds like
Bösendorfer and Fender sounds like Fender. It has loads of air and distance
between instruments, within the soundstage. The image also "opens"
up, better and more "life like", compared to the original used budget
OPA604. Detail and ambient information are the stronger points. What really
stroke me, was depth and width within the "sound projection" which
comes close to what I know from much more expensive CD players! The "to be
there" feeling is enormous, and dull (often popular) recordings, are more
"tasty" and way more enjoyable. But beware: it's that good that it
simply proves how "bad" recordings can be... But after all, are we
audiophiles not always looking for the naked truth?"
and he continues:
"Analog Devices LC/AD825. This Analog Devices opamp is
actually a SMD on a "mini pc-board" together with a couple of Silver
Mica capacitors. It has a long "run in" period and is immediately
impressing with very "warm" and lush sounds. In the beginning, I
thought we simply made a mistake to consider this as a possible option:
"There's no way, we can advice this little one!" I was thinking out
loud ... Until I got the idea that perhaps the combination with my Philips
E288CC SQ GP's was not the luckiest one. After installing the original Philips
JAN 6922's it was immediately clear, that warm + warm was perhaps a little too
hot ... The soundstage melted together and became sticky. Bass was simply
undefined, until... Indeed. The overall presentation became way more clearer
with the 6922's, and the sound reminded me of the early tjoeb days ... AH!
Tjoeb ‘99 sounds ... Enough respect to detail and precision (better than
OPA604) and a nice, soft, velvet top end. Bass and mid bass have more
"compound" and mid/treble is "open" and clear. Voices are
just to die for. I guess this one is best recommend to those listening to
"small" loudspeakers, because it is -just little- bigger imposing. I
really liked the "easy" and very pleasant dynamics. Nice ambient
"sense" and great sound staging also came to mind."
General Conclusion: These
options are highly recommended to those who want more of the good Tjoeb stuff.
A
full list of available AH! articles with the current prices for
EC and non-EC members has been added to the website. Those of you who are
hoping to see the pictures of the products once they click on the small
cameras, have to be patient for a couple of weeks, I am afraid.
More
information is added to the technical section of this site. Now information and
pictures are published re the WAGO connectors we use in the AH! Njoe
Tjoeb 4000.
Reactions on Tjoeb Tjoens and TjoUpsampler are very good. We have a growing list of reservations for the TjoUpsampler and our stock of Tjoeb
Tjoens is almost gone.
I realized today that
there must be a number of "early" AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000
owners who even don't know the current logos we use on the player and
remote-control. For them we show these here and of course they can contact us
for a free set of these.

Now
and than we are experimenting with the products / prototypes in our stores,
where we have lots of high-quality stuff to compare with. You cannot (and we
don't want to) avoid that customers / visitors see and hear what we are doing. During
last few weeks we have been playing on and off with our new AH! TjoUpsampler.
If you visit www.audioasylum.com and search for " TjoUpsampler
" you can see how fast good news travels! As said earlier this week,
it is possible to reserve here for earliest delivery of the new AH!
TjoUpsampler. This week I will make a few photographs of the proto
TjoUpsamplers we have.
Slowly by slowly we continue to create a special AH! section on
this website. If you have any further suggestions, please send us a short email.

As
announced last week, we do have a special choice of opamps for AH!
Njoe Tjoeb 4000 owners, but also for other people who can use these single
opamps for upgrading their equipment. As these TjoebTjoens are not needed
anymore if you decide to buy an AH! TjoUpsampler (reserve here), we have a special trade-in programm for these parts:
The AH! TjoUpsampler's introduction price is EUR 325,-. You can
trade in your original BB 604 set + Philips DAC for EUR 10,-. The Tjoeb Tjoens
OPA627 set trades in for EUR 25,- and the Tjoeb Tjoens LC/AD825 set for EUR 15.
This gives all the AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 owners the maximum
possibility to "play" with their machine and sound at minimum cost.
Last weeks several customers have upgraded their ac and dc cables with AH!
KB8 and AH! KB10 cables. All of them agreed this to be a major
upgrade. One of our customers (owning Krell FPB650m amps and Wilson Audio Grand
Slam loudspeakers claims his already good sounding Krell KRC-HR preamp sounds
10 times better with the new AH! KB8 connection between his
powersupply and preamp. Watch out for further description of this upgrade,
which certainly will become available as an AH! Upgrade
Kit.

What you see on the left are two types of highest-quality OpAmps to fine-tune your AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000. Same idea as what people do with different tubes. We have chosen for 2 sets. A set of 2 Burr Brown OPA627 OpAmps and a set of 2 LC-Audio/Analog Devices AD 825. Marcel van Overbeek has been listening to both of them and his conclusions will be soon available on this site. In fact they should already have been here, if I didn't mess up the story. By the way, the AH! name for these Opamps is: TjoebTjoens (pronounce: tube-tunes). The TjoebTjoens are available NOW from stock in LIMITED QUANTITIES. Enjoy. |

Happy
Eastern for all of you and hopefully tomorrow again some sunny weather (in
Holland we celebrate 2 days of Eastern, Sunday and Monday). After that -and
that is NOT an April 1 joke- we are going to play with the new interface-software
for our Xenario©
(yes, also known as PrPrPr) range of electronics we have currently under
development.
